In all mines where, for example, gold, copper, nickel or ores are won, acids come into
play. The reason: the ore must be leached out of the sludge by means of chemical
reactions. This process takes place in huge tanks (example: diameter 30 m, height 4.5 m),
the untreated walls of which are not able to withstand the aggressiveness of the various
chemicals employed. Accordingly these must be protected against corrosion. Rubber linings
have been successfully used in ore dressing plants as a corrosion protection agent for
decades now, whereby these linings are not only resistant to the aggressive chemicals but
also provide protection against the wear produced by the aggressive solid materials.
