Power stations
Rubber linings have been used for a variety of different applications in power stations
for a long time now to provide corrosion protection. Worthy of special mention here are
water treatment plants and in particular the systems for the desulphurization of exhaust
gases. For these applications the rubber lining may be applied in the plant manufacturer's
works or at the particular construction site.
Rubber linings have proved themselves splendidly in exhaust gas scrubbers, tanks, clean
gas conduits, pipes, fans, fittings, hydrocyclones, centrifuges, etc..
A typical example here are the scrubbers in the wet systems where the rubber linings have
to be applied to many thousands of square meters at heights which can go up to 70 m. Even
under the severe conditions of high temperatures, abrasion by solid matter and permeation
by water and gases, the rubber linings providing the corrosion protection give service
lives of over 15 years.
In the meantime more than a quarter million square meters of steel in exhaust gas
scrubbers have been protected against corrosion by companies within the FDG.
